Image Logic Offers
Free Captioning Software to Schools,
Religious Broadcasters, Parents,
Libraries and other Non-Profit Organizations

Yes, It's free. Really.

Yes we're in the business of designing and marketing high-end closed captioning software for the broadcast and post-production industry.

And yes, we're capitalists by birthright and by inclination — but the software is still free.

Why?

We've talked to churches and television stations around the country.  We realize the FCC's 100% captioning regulation is putting a heavy financial burden on many small market broadcasters.

We've also heard some vendors out there are taking advantage of the situation by peddling vintage software for as much as $1,500.  That's up to them.

Things will get better, they always do. But during the transition period we thought we'd help relieve the pressure by making one of our programs available at no charge.

Please understand, we're not giving away our top end software.

But our RollUp™ DOS program is simple, easy to use, it can run on a $100 laptop, and it will bring your video into FCC compliance without using a big captioning house.

For those of you with a Windows 2000/XP/Vista computer (sorry, no 95/98/ME) we have a fairly new RollUp™ NT program that supports a few more closed caption encoders.

What's the catch?

No catch. There are no strings attached to using RollUp - no cookies, no registrations, no SPAM, no lease on your firstborn, and no salesperson will call.

Just enjoy it with our complements. And see if you can use any of the other free software.

But, if you do get to the point where you need to do a greater variety of more sophisticated and efficient captioning or subtitling, please think of us.

RollUpTM DOS

RollUp DOS is a simple DOS program used to run a closed caption encoder and make roll-up captions.

If you have an ordinary ASCII transcript (typically it's one with a TXT extent) RollUp will format it into captions and let you hand trigger the captions at will.

This is a simple, robust little program which will run on even the cheapest DOS computer as long as it has a serial port.

Folks have used it to caption speeches, plays, home video, and even to temporarily add captions to performances of historic or educational videos.

Because the command line box and DOS modes in some versions of Windows® 95 are not really compatible with DOS communications, you may need to boot your computer with a DOS 6.22 diskette to use RollUp.  We have, however, run RollUp in the Windows 2000 and XP "cmd" box.

RollUpTM NT

RollUp NT is a brand new Windows® 2000/XP/Vista program that does pretty much the same thing as RollUp DOSRollUp NT will also run a closed caption encoder and make roll-up captions from simple text files.  Version 1.0 build 13 (Multi-Byte) is still fairly new so let us know if you spot a bug.
