Image Logic technician shows how to figure out which media file line your non-linear editor (NLE) will use for the closed caption waveform

Finding Your Line

DynaCaption™ can render compact AutoCaption .DCAP files as an image overlay containing an analog closed caption waveform.  This feature lets a studio use its non-linear editor (NLE) to generate closed captioned analog video.

The problem is that not all digital to analog converters want the closed caption waveform on the same media file line.

So we devised a media file with a caption waveform on every line.  To find out which line your NLE uses for closed captioning simply generate video from AutoCaptionLineFinder.mov.  When you play the video through a closed caption video a roll-up caption will announce which line's closed caption waveform made it through your system.

Did you know that DynaCaption can put a closed caption waveform on any line of a media file?  That way a studio can generate uncompressed closed caption overlays, tailor made of their NLE, from any .DCAP file.
